What types of nurse staffing do you provide?

We provide nurses from high-need specialties, such as OR, ER, ICU, telemetry and many other specialty nurses, licensed practical or vocational nurses and advanced practice nurses in a wide variety of specialties for assignments ranging from two weeks to 24 months. We typically place most of our nurses on 13-week travel assignments with hospitals and healthcare facilities. Our travel staffing brands, American Mobile Healthcare®, Medical ExpressSM, NursesRx®, Preferred Healthcare Staffing®, O'Grady Peyton International® and RN Demand®, give you nationwide access to the largest network of qualified travel nursing professionals in the industry.

We also offer a longer-term staffing solution, typically 18 months, under our O'Grady Peyton International® brand. Through O'Grady Peyton International, you can employ English-speaking international nurses with U.S. acute-care type of skills and training.

During 2005, we launched NurseChoice® InDemand to address our clients' urgent, high-demand nursing needs in the shortest amount of time. NurseChoice offers short-term staffing assignments that bridge the gap between per-diem and longer-term assignments to enhance consistency of care. NurseChoice also offers a Specialized Staffing program for your hard-to-fill unique positions.

What is the benefit of choosing an international nurse?

Due in part to a nursing shortage in the United States, acute-care facilities are looking for nurses outside the United States, such as Canada and other English-speaking countries abroad. International nurses are typically on staff for a longer period of time—usually 18-24 months.

What special skills or competencies does AMN require for its travel nurses?

Each nurse employed by AMN Healthcare has a minimum of 10 months of experience in his or her specialty. Some require a greater level of experience. Initial screening includes a background check, licensure verification and a review of skill sets appropriate to clinical areas. AMN provides continuing education for its nurses to ensure that they meet the highest clinical standards. AMN Healthcare publishes an annual Workplace Safety and Standard Manual, which outlines regulatory information including Joint Commission, OSHA and HIPAA information for annual review. AMN Healthcare also employs a number of registered nurse clinical liaisons available 24 hours a day to answer clinical questions from travel nurses and client employees. In addition, the company provides free continuing education to its travel nurses.

How do hospitals staff appropriately in a nursing shortage?

What types of physician staffing do you provide?

We provide temporary and permanent physician staffing services to hospitals, medical groups and other healthcare providers across the United States through our physician staffing organizations. We place physicians across many specialties on a locum tenens basis (temporary) under our Staff Care® brand as independent contractors with all types of healthcare organizations. Physicians are recruited nationwide and typically placed on multi-week contracts. Assignments range from a few days to one year, depending on your specific staffing requirements. We also provide permanent physician placement services under our Merritt, Hawkins & Associates® brand, one of the oldest and largest physician search firms in the United States. Our broad specialty offerings include more than 40 specialist and sub-specialist opportunities.

What types of allied healthcare staffing do you provide?

We provide short- and long-term allied healthcare professional staffing to acute-care hospitals, medical groups, skilled nursing facilities, rehabilitation clinics, schools and retail, specialty and mail-order pharmacies under our Med TravelersSM, Rx Pro HealthSM and Platinum Select brands. How do you screen your healthcare professionals?

Who is responsible for providing accommodations for the temporary healthcare professional?

Under our standard service agreement, AMN Healthcare's housing department will find suitable accommodations for the temporary clinicians you employ through us. We negotiate contracts with national property management and furniture rental companies to leverage our size and obtain favorable pricing and terms.

Who is responsible for providing professional liability insurance for temporary healthcare professionals?

AMN provides each traveler with their own professional liability policy, with coverage limits of $1 to $2 million.
